Significance

Banyaside B belongs to the aeru­ginosin family of serine protease inhibitors. The above synthesis targeted a proposed structural motif which, upon completion of the total synthesis, was found to be incorrect. NMR spectroscopy studies led to a structural revision of the glycosylation site (not shown).
